NO ALLIANCE BY FARMERS WITH POLITICAL PARTY
An emphatic denial that Federated Farmers had allied itself with any political party, or that it was proposing any such alliance, was expressed at the Dominion council 'meeting of the federation by Mr. W. N. Pfirry, Dominion president. His statement was made in reply to a recent Auckland press report that such an action was contemplated. “As your Dominion president,’’ said Mr. Perry, “I must emphasise that I have never approached any political party regarding any such alliance and I know of no approach, official or unofficial, from this organisation. "Federated Farmers is definitely a non-party organisation, although we are necessarily very concerned with politics in the wide sense of the term. I have my own political opinions, of course, but I trv not to allow them intrude into the work of the organisation. I deny the Auckland report." The council passed a resolution ex- t pressing opposition to any affiliation to any particular political party as that would be against the interests of the federation in its fight for farmers' rights.
