INCREASES IN HARBOUR CHARGES

“It is very satisfactory that almost the whole of the increases in charges asked for were - approved without a public hearing,” said the chairman, Mr A. J. Nicol. when a letter from the Price Tribunal board was received at yesterday’s meeting of the Gisborne Harbour Board.

The tribunal approved increases in charges by the board for wharfage, meat railage, the weigh-bridge, the slipway and fishing boat berthage. Although the board had applied for the increases 12 months ago, members felt that the increases, which took place from March 7, were satisfactory.
