CANTERBURY TRADE COUNCIL’S SUPPORT

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Mar. 4. One of the best attended meetings of the Canterbury Trades Council for some time unanimously endorsed last night the decision of the national council of the Federation of Labour to support the Auckland carpenters. The decision of the national council was to give moral and financial support to the carpenters in the event of a “lock-out” and it has launched an appeal among affiliated organisations for financial assistance. It is understood that executives of certain unions in Christchurch are meeting immediately to consider the scope of the financial assistance they can give.
