MONTGOMERY’S TIP ON TRUMP CARDS AGAINST WAR
(10 a.m.) ZURICH, Feb. 21. Field-Marshal Lord Montgomery, Chief of the Western Union Defence Committee, said that war is a possibliity for which a nation must be prepared. He added: “In the troubled world in which we live to be unprepared and unready places high trump cards in the hands of a potential enemy. "Two essential cards to hold are national security and economic stability. Without them a nation is certain to have to sacrifice its principles of independence, freedom and the traditional way of life or face defeat in war.”
