France and Holland Must Do More To Help Themselves: U.S. Views
(10.15 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Feb. 11 While Britain has been commended for her recovery effort, France and Holland have come in for some strong criticism. Mr. Dr. Bruce, head of the E.C.A., mission to France, Said the French would have to make a far greater effort if they were to recover on time. “The French people must sacrifice present satisfactions if they are to obtain future benefits,” he added.
Senator T. Connally (Democrat, Texas), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said: “The less Holland spends on Indonesia putting down revolution the more she will have for those at home, and the less she will need from our Treasury.”
