SYDNEY, Jan. 22. Combined New Zealand Universities defeated Sydney University by 14 points to 13 in a swimming carnival at the Olympic Pool. The New Zealanders won four events. D. Dowse won the 220yds. breaststroke in 3min. s.Bsec., P. Blomfield won the 440 yards free-style in smin. 26.85ec., and D. Begg won the three-metre dive. The New Zealand team also won the 220 yards medley relay. M. Butterick was third in the 110 yards backstroke, L. Barry was third in the 55 yards invitation scratch race, and T. Logan wag third in the 165 yards individual medley. The New Zealanders were third in the 220 yards free-style relay. A Sydney team defeated the New Zealanders by seven goals to two in a water polo match.
