Entry of 23 Fairs in Women’s Open Bowling Tournament

Representatives of the Heretaunga, Port Ahuriri, Havelock North, Otane and Gisborne Riverside clubs are to contest the open pairs tournament being held under the auspices of the East Coast Women’s Bowling Centre in Gisborne this week. Twenty-three pairs have entered.

The programme provides for section play tomorrow and on Wednesday on the Riverside and Poverty Bay greens and for post-section play on Thursday on the Riverside green. Play is to commence at 9.20 a.m. daily. Section play consists of three games on each of the two days and pairs with four wins or better will qualify for the postsection stages.

Messrs. S. McKenzie and E. E. Sovervell have been appointed as umpires. The tournament secretary is Mrs. C. Mackay, Riverside club.
