SUBSIDY ON FOWL WHEAT TO STOP

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. The subsidy on fowl wheat, bran and pollard will be abolished as from tomorrow.

In announcing this today the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr. A. H. Nordmeyer, said that the South Island system of purchasing fowl wheat by warrants would cease at the same time.

He hoped that sufficient Australian wheat, would be coming forward in both islands to meet all poultry requirements and that further rationing would be unnecessary. Additional costs to poultry-keepers, amounting to 3Jd per dozen, would be compensated for by an increase in the subsidy paid on eggs marketed through official egg floors, said the Minister.
