PEKING’S HOPES FOR SEPARATE PEACE FAIL
<10.40 a.m.) NANKING, Jan. 21. Peking's hopes of a separate negotiated peace had almost faded last night, according to Reuter dispatches reaching Nanking. Reliable sources said that the negotiations had broken down over the Communists’ demand that General Fu Tso Yi’s troops should first lay down their arms before the cease-fire.
