SCHOOL BREAK-UP
MOTU NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) The Motu School recently held its annual breaking-up and prize-giving ceremony. Ice cream, cordials, and a sweets scramble were provided by the Motu School Committee, while the parents were responsible for the afternoon lea and lunch. Following the prizegiving Miss Hazel Tolemache, on behalf of the school children, presented Mr. L L. Thomson with a fountain pen as a memento of his two years as teacher at the Motu School. Christmas Tree For Children The Motu Hall was gay on Saturday afternoon when a ladies’ committee held its annual Christmas tree for the local children. Each kiddie received a present from the tree and a balloon from the hands of a most realistic Santa Claus. Mrs. F. Read supplied the music for the games, and afternoon lea was served by some of the parents Tennis Party at “Ibsiey” Mrs H. C. Boys held a most enjoyable tennis party at her home, “Ibsiey.’ Motu. last week-end. An excellent buffet lunch was provided by the hostess, and also a delicious afternoon tea. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Fisher and Miss B. Fisher. Mr. and Mrs, M. TrafTord and Hugh, Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Hutchins, Mr. and Mrs W. Spence and Kerry, Mr. and Mrs. B. Lockett. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Leggalt and family: Mrs. G. Johnstone: Messrs. G. T. Hutchins. T. Tombleson, 11. Tombleson and C. Neville.
