STABLEHAND BARRED FOR FIVE YEARS
(11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 18. The Victorian Racing Club stipendiary stewards disqualified a stablehand, John Spavin Myles, for five years. The disqualification was the result of the stewards’ inquiry into the alleged doping of the colt Amritsar before the Moonee Valley races on November 27. Amritsar was withdrawn from the Somerton Handicap by order of the stewards when a puncture was found in his leg, indicating that a hypodermic needle could have been used.
