Auckland Finance For Empire Games

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 14. A donation of £IOOO by Auckland Commercial Travellers’ Club toward the expenses of staging the 1950 British Empire Games in Auckland was announced by the chairman of the organising committee, Mr. C. Rex Moore at the first meeting of the finance sub-committee.

Mr. Moore said that several offers had been received to make up the sum of £2OOO required by January 31. 1949, and it had been suggested that a non-profit-making company should be formed to raise the additional £48,000 required by March 31.
