Women Supporters’ Work.
“When you prepare to entertain several hundred children, the work does not get done by itself. You have to have the assistance of a good many people, who are prepared to sit down and stay on the job, no matter how long and tedious it might become, said Mr. A. H. Berwick, Digger vicepresident of the Gisborne R.S.A. and chairman of the joint social committees, speaking at Saturday’s Christmas party for returned servicemen’s children at the Army Hall. “Our association is fortunate to have the necessary assistance to conduct functions of this kind with success, and in this connection I should like to pay a tribute to the group of womenfolk organised by Mrs. G. Dodge, which undertook the preparation of individual rations ol food and sweets for the children, and staffed the ice-cream bars throughout the afternoon- They have put up a .magnificent effort.”
