NARROW TENNIS WIN TO WAERENGA-A-HIKA
In the season’s first inter-club match on the courts of the Waerenga-a-hika Tennis Club, the home team on Saturday gained a narrow decision over Waihirere, the scores being 10 sets to 14 The visitors were welcomed by the Rev. J. G. B. Talbot and a reply was made by Mr. R. Katapa. Results follow, Waerenga-a-hika players being named first in each instance.
Women’s Singles.—Mrs. Tuhoe lost to Terakei, 5-0; Miss Leslie lost to Miss K. Taihuka, 4-0; Miss Nickerson lost to Miss L. Ria, 0-0; Miss Cowan cl. Miss S. Kingi, 0-4; Miss Atkins lost to Miss T. Kini, 1-6; Miss Fenton d. Miss C, Tiepa, 6-1; Miss M. Greig lost to Miss T. Neipia, 3-0. Men’s Singles.—Talbot d. W. Kero Kere, 6-4; Pardoe lost to F. Wawaitai, 4-6; Talbot lost to R. Tiepa, 3-6: Atkin? d. J. Kingi, 6-3; Greig lost to Haronga, 4-6; Hudson d. Katipa, 0-1; Davies cl. Kinnie, 6-4.
