Soviet Will Not Accept Declaration Of Human Rights
PARIS, Dec. 9
Tire Russian delegate, M. Vyshinsky, opened in the United States’ Assembly a Soviet attack against the declaration Vf human rights, alleging that it lacked “blood and flesh” and was full of ’’lame’ articles. . He demanded that the State and society should “guarantee" the rights proclaimed. He added that Russia would not recognise the declaration in its present form and he asked the Assembly to pigeon-hole the entire declaration until the meeting next September. , , ~ The preamble and 31 articles of the declaration are packed with fundamental laws regarding civilised human conduct. It lays down a standard of behaviour so high that no nation today can claim to have reached it entirely. The declaration covers the rights of free assembly, free choice of employment or domicile, ownership of propertv, marriage, social security and the right to rest and holidays with pay.
