(10 a.m.)

HAIFA. Dec. 9

Brigadier W. E. Riley, the United Nations Chief of Staff in Palestine, called on the Jews and Arabs to hold “Christmas peace talks" by December 12 to open the road to Bethlehem and give the Jews access to the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem’s old city.

The United Nations’ spokesman, in announcing this, said the Jews and Arabs would be asked to withdraw all troops from religious buildings.
