GREYMOUTH, Oct. 2.

The southerly storm which had whipped up high seas on the West Coast for more than a week came to an end during the night and' the big shipping hold-up in which 13 vessels are involved terminated today with the clearing of the ports of Greymouth and Westport. Soundings taken at Greymouth disclosed that all signs of shoaling have been removed by the action of the rough seas combined with river floods. As a result, the first coal ships for 10 days left for North Island ports this morning. ,
