H.B. HOGGETS IN STRONG DEMAND AT MORRINSVILLE
An average entry of fat sheep sold at prices in advance of recent sales at (he Marrinsvilie stock sale on Friday. A goad entry of hoggets from Hawke s Bay ,vas in strong demand and prices showed a sharp rise on late rates.
Fat cows were penned in smaller numbers, but there was a plentiful supply ol store and Loner cows. The demand was steady and values remained firm. Yearling Jersey heifers were again in good demand and sold at firm values. Values were on a par with recent sales tor a medium entry of dairy heifers. Prices:— Sheep.—Fat woolly wethers, 7)3 to 80s; fat. shorn wethers, to 50s. cat woolly hoggets, 59s to 575; light, 42s to 475; iai shorn hoggets, 39s to 425: fat woolly ewes, to 435; good store wether hoggets, shorn. 37s to 39s Id; medium, 3.3 s to 355; smaller, 27s to 30s: medium shorn ewe hoggets, 36s 9d; small, 25s to 27s 3d.
Cattle. —Light, fat young Jersey cows. £8 to £9; Doner cows, £5 10s to £7 12s 6d: stores, £4 10s to £5; 2-vr. empty .Jersey heifers and cows. £4 Iss to £7: yearling Jersey heifers, £9 2s od to £9 12s 6d; Jersey Ayrshire cross heifers, £8 17s od to £9 7s 6d; smaller Jersey heifer calves, £8 to £8 2s od; 2-yr. Jersey bulls. £l3 10s to £l6; vearling Jersey bulls. £l9 10s to £ls 10s.
Dairies.—Top quality Jersey' heifers, c.tp., £l6 10s to £lB 19s; others. £l3 to £ls 10s: backward pens. £lO to £l2 10s; top-quality heifers, in milk, £l6 53 to £l9; others, £lO !0s to £l4; cows in milk. £l4 to £l6 10s.
