TO BE MERGED WITH NELSON CITY

(P.A.) NELSON, Oct. 2. Being convinced that the Tahunanui town district was essentially a part of Nelson City and that single control would be to the mutual advantage of both areas, the Local Government Commission which held a public inquiry into local body boundaries in Nelson on August 3 found in favour of the amalgamation of Tahunanui with the city, subject to certain conditions regarding revaluations, the consolidation of special rates and a drainage scheme for the town district. The commission was unable to agree to the inclusion of a major portion of Stoke riding in the city, holding that Stoke was not a “spillover” from Nelson.
