Taxi-Driver Runs Down Sydney Man Who Was Attacking A Woman
SYDNEY, Oct. 1. Seeing a man attacking a woman on a footpath of a Darlinghurst street, a taxi driver chased the man in his vehicle and deliberately ran him down- The man was not seriously injured and was overpowered by the taxi driver and another man after a struggle.
The woman had finished her work as an office cleaner and was walking home when she heard a man following her. Suddenly he caught up with her, seized her and threw her screaming to the pavement. When the taxi driver turned his lights on the pavement the man ran away. The taxi followed him down two streets and then ran over him, pinning him down. After being subdued he was handed over to the police and was later charged with assault. The police have been investigating several recent assaults on women in the area.
