MAN STABBED TO DEATH IN SYDNEY
(11.45 a.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 1. The police early this morning found an engineer stabbed to death in his office in the suburb of Crow’s Nest. He was Mr. Charles Louis Le Gallien, aged 50, mechanical and automobile engineer. He was a victim of a most savage attack, as he had a number of wounds, and blood was splashed on the walls and books. The police were sent to the scene by Miss Betty de Groen, who said: "I was expecting him to have tea with me. He telephoned about 7 pan, and said he would ring later. He rang me five times after that, and the last time he said: ‘lf I don’t ring in 10 minutes you ring me.’ When I rang back the phone was dead and 1 could not raise him." Detectives say it is obvious that Le Gallien had someone with him who was threatening him, and that he feared for his safety at the time he rang Miss de Groen. No weapon was found.
