N.Z. AIRMAN KEEN TO MAKE POLAR FLIGHT

(11 am.) PERTH. Oct. 1. The airman Paul Raymond Whitehead, of New Zealand, is hopeful of further exploits. A suggestion that a world polar flight be conducted with Perth as the starting point has been announced by a well-known Perth citizen, Mr. C. L. K. Foot, who for years has been in the forefront of an agitation for' an Indian ocean air route from the West Australian coast to Africa and England as an alternative to the existing route. An experimental survey of this route will be made shortly. Mr. Foot considers that it would be an appropriate gesture when the Royal Family is in Australia for a south polar round the world flight to be made with Perth as the starting point. Immediately this idea was given publicity, Mr, Whitehead had his application in and saw Mr. Foot personally. He was informed that his claim would be favourably considered.
