CHALMERS ROAD

Sir,—We are pleased to know that we are to have a visit from Their Majesties the King and Queen, and the Borough Council appears to be awakening to the fact that we will have to clean up. Why not start with Chalmers road, the entrance to the airport? If the Borough Council and County Council had accepted the suggestion made through the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce, we would have had by now a fine avenue of trees planted. Why not cash in on this assets and boost the town? What the council did do in Chalmers road was to plant a few trees and leave them unprotected for the roving stock. The Chalmers road residents would cooperate with the council if it wanted something done to brighten up the entrance prior to tlie King’s visit. "PROGRESS.”
