EMPIRE UNIVERSITIES CONGRESS

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 31. Facilities for Empire exchanges of teachers and scholarship students were among the principal subjects discussed at the Empire universities congress in Bristol and Oxford. This was stated by Professor W. Anderson, Professor of Philosophy at Auckland University College and chairman of the professional board, who returned by a Skymaster from Sydney this morning. The recommendations of the congress will be submitted to the governing bodies of the various universities. Professor Anderson said that superannuation schemes were discussed and an attempt made to evolve a method whereby those going to other countries would not suffer a reduction. The possibility of professors on Sabbatical leave working in other universities was discussed. There was an interesting philosophical debate on whether science had outpaced moral development.
