MR. FRASER ATTENDS ROTORUA CEREMONIES

(P.A.) ROTORUA, Aug. 30. In the presence of a Maori and pakeha assembly of about 1000 the Prime Minister, Mr, P. Fraser, on Saturday afternoon opened the Janet Fraser Memorial Guest House erected near the Rotorua Hospital for the accommodation of Maoris visiting friends and relatives in hospitalThe scheme was projected some years ago by the Women's Health League, but was interrupted by the war. The house includes 10 bedrooms accommodating 15 persons. The late Mrs. Fraser was patroness of the league and took a keen interest in its plans for the betterment of hygiene in remote districts.

A carved flagstaff erected to members of the Ngati-Pikiao sub-tribe who died in the Second World War was unveiled by the Prime Minister at Whangamaarino School, Mourea, yesterday. ' The pole is the work of a Maori exserviceman of the First World War who has since died.
