DAILY ROUND GISBORNE GIRL’S MARRIAGE IN SYDNEY LAST WEEK Married at St. Stephen’s Church, Macquarie street, Sydney, last week was a former Gisborne girl, Miss Rachael Pahewa Fairlie, who had flown from New Zealand the previous day to marry Mr. William Moosberger. The ceremony, conducted by the Rev. A. P. Tory. M.A., was a quiet one, and for it the bride wore a dusky pink and black ensemble. Her new length pink frock was worn with a spray of violets and her black picture hat of light felt was trimmed with black tulle and pink roses, black accessories also being worn. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. V. Fairlie. Bushmere road, Gisborne, and the bridegroom the only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Moosberger Grey Lynn, Auckland. Mr and Mrs. Moosberger will be making iheir home in Sydney. ‘MISCELLANEOUS SHOWERS’ Gift parties tendered Miss Aldwyth Kemp in view of her approaching marriage to Mr. John Luney have included two “miscellaneous” parties given last Tuesday. Mesdames S. C. Clare and H. C. Fraser gave one in the afternoon at the Victoria League rooms for about 40 friends. Mesdames Len. Morris, Frank Hair and L. J. Allen presented an instrumental trio and Mrs. Allen accompanied Mrs. Kilpatrick for vocal solos. The bride-elect, who wore a Burgundy Angora frock with powder blue touches, was assisted by her sister, Miss Pamela Kemp, to open her gifts. She tendered sincere thanks to her hostesses and friends. A black marocain suit with pink accents was worn by Mrs. Clare, and Mrs. Fraser was in mid-blue wool georgette. Bowls of berries and spring flowers decorated the home of the Rev. A. L. and Mrs. Silcock, Stout street, for another “miscellaneous shower” held the same evening and given by members of the Baptist Church choir, of which Miss Kemp has been a member for some years. Mrs. Silcock, who received the guests, wore a wool' crepe-de-chine frock of blue and her chief guest also chose blue, wearing a sheer blouse of powder blue and a darker blue ballerina skirt. The evening was informal, with games and music occupying the major portion of it. THREE CHIEF GUESTS

A party with a three-fold purpose was given this week by Mrs. A. J. Humphrey, when she invited 25 friends to attend a combined “miscellaneous” and farewell party. The gift party wv for .Misses Pam Chrisp and Erica Robertson, and the farewell for Miss Jane Garland. ! Mrs. Humphrey, who was wearing a red embroidered fawn frock, had arranged japonica, daisies and lilies in the house. Miss Margaret Allen was at the piano during the evening and competitions were also held. Miss Chrisn wore a blue tailored frock, and Miss Robertson's light aqua frock was also on tailored lines, while Miss Garland had chosen green wool georgette. LITERARY CIRCLE At the monthly meeting of the literary circle of the Gisborne Women’s Club, Mrs. Clement, convener, spoke feelingly of the loss to the club of her aunt and beloved fellow-member of the club. Mrs. F, R. Hill, members standing in silence. The readings were on current topics and those who took part were Mcsdames Maynard. Sinclair, Clement and Lcgge. Mrs. Sutcliffe, whose birthday fell on the meeting day, was accorded musical honours. Afternoon tea concluded the meeting. EUCHRE GAMES Under the supervision of Mr. Carter, members of the Mangapapa Scout Hall committee competed in euchre games last Tuesday at the hall in Bryce street. Mrs. Burch was the winning lady apd Mr. Crawford the winning man. Flag five hundred will be played next week. DINNER PARTY Mrs. P. J. Matson, Tokomaru Bay. whose daughter was married today, gave a dinner party at the Albion Club Hotel last night for the bridal parly.
