HIGH SCHOOLS’ SECOND FIFTEENS

The advantage in forward play enabled the Gisborne High School second fifteen to defeat the Napiac Boys’ High School second fifteen bv 14 points to nine in a well-contested Rugby game on the Gisborne ground yesterday. The visitors’ backs shaded the home set. but were checked generally by sound tackling and were handicapped to some extent by the slippery condition of the turf and ball as the result of rain in the early stages of the game. Gisborne showed a territorial margin in the first half, but honours were fairly even after the interval.

Tries for Gisborne were scored by Meban,. Moss, McCulloch and McKee, one being converted by Tureia. The points for the Napier team were the result of a try by Marrett and a penalty goal bv Leadbetter. Mr. M. Traue was the referee.
