OLD BOYS 48-NIL

CELTIC DEFEAT Y.M.P.

In the only grade competition Rugby games on the Gisborne grounds on Saturday the unbeaten Old Boys junior combination ran up the season's biggest tally of the division in defeating Union 48-nil. while Celtic juniors gained the decision over Y.M.P. by the margin of an extra try, the scores being 11-8. Twelve tries, six of which were converted, made up the score of the Old Boys team. The wing, File, registered five tries, the others being scored by White (2), Tapping (21, Goodall, Dale and Baty. Two conversions were added by McKenzie and one each by Tapping, Phelps, White and Dale. Mr. J. Hadwin was the referee. Tries for Celtic were registered by Boyle (2) and M. Nilcora, the latter converting one. Wilson and Maynard scored tries for Y.M.P., Taylor getting a conversion. Mr. J. Barrett was the referee. Championship Points These games had been outstanding from the first round. With their completion each of the six teams in the grade has played eight matches. Championship points credited are: Junior.— Old Boys, 16: Marist, 12; Celtic, 10; H. 5.0.8., C; Y.M.P., 4; Union, ill.
