PURGE OF REDS EXTENDED IN BRITAIN
(10 a.m.) LONDON, June 16. The Civil Service Clerical Association asserted that the Secretary for Air, Mr. Arthur Henderson, had informed the staff that all posts at the Air Ministry headquarters would be brought within the scope of the Government s purge of Communists and Fascists. The association believes that Mr. Henderson is considering extending the purge to all Air Ministry establishments throughout the country and that the Admiralty, War Office and Ministry of Supply have taken a similar decision. The association claimed this represented a material extension of the scope of the purge. It would bring in a large volume of non-secret work and would apply to all Communists in service departments.
