(9.30 a.m.) LISBON, June 16. A military court acquitted two of the 13 high-ranking Portuguese officers and civilians accused of plotting the overthrow of D.r Salazar's regime in April, 1947 and sentenced the others to terms of approximately one year’s imprisonment. The time they have spent in custody will be taken into account and the balance remitted which means that they will be released immediately. The chief defendant and the alleged ringleader was Vice-Admiral Jose Mendes Cabecadas, the former provisional President of Portugal and the former Premier.
