PERSONAL

MR. P. FRASER, the Prime Minister, reached Gisborne last evening from Wellington, having travelled direct from his headquarters to visit the flood-disaster area. He is accompanied on his visit by Mr. J. H. Grace as private secretary. Mr. Fraser is to be the guest at a special meeting of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce this evening, and will make an inspection of the flood area tomorrow. He is at the Masonic Hotel.

MR. N. H. BULL, the Mayor, presided at last night’s meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council, at which were also present Messrs. F. Tolerton, G. J. Jeune, H. F. Wise. G. D. Muirhead, W. C. Kohn, and J. H. Hall.

MR. D. W. W. WILLIAMS was yesterday re-appointed as the P.B. Catchment Board’s representative on the New Zealand Catchment Boards’ Association executive, a post whigh he held through the past year.

MR. J. R. HAIR, presided at the monthly meeting of the P.B. Catchment Board, held yesterday, at which were also present Messrs. H. D Chamberlain E. A. Madden, E. W. McEnnis, C. L. Cox, G. Newman, E. M. Monckton, R. C. Murphy, H. J. Lougher, and H. M. White.

PROFESSOR A. FI. TOCKER, rector of Canterbury University College, will travel by air to England at the beginning of next month as a delegate to the British Empire Universities’ Conference at Oxford. He will be away about six weeks. —P.A.
