STOWED AWAY “JUST FOR TRIP”

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, June 15. “What was the big idea of trying to get to America,’’ the magistrate, Mr. J. H. Luxforcl, asked John Vincent Millett. aged 20, a glassblower, who was charged with stowing away aboard the Marine Phoenix at Sydney. “Oh, just for a trip,’’ replied Millett. The police said the youth walked up the gangway and was discovered the first day out He had no money. The magistrate placed Millett on probation and ordered him to take employment and pay £ 12 10s to the Matson Line and when sufficient money was available, to return to Sydney.
