OBITUARY
MR. J. H. TURNER
The death of Mr. John Thoms Turner at his home in Stout street, Gisborne, early this morning marked the passing of an esteemed resident who was well known particularly in farming circles throughout the district. He was 76 years of age. His health had been failing for some months. Mr. Turner, who w.s born in Wellington, came to the Gisborne distnet as a young man ar.d was married in Gisborne to Miss Dora Cook. After farming in tn? Motu district for some years. Mr. Turner moved 53 years ago to Mak.iuri, where he continued as a farmer until his recent retirement. In public life he earned esteem through his several years of service as a member ot the P B. Bwer Board and as a member of the Makauri School Committee. He is survived by Mrs. Turner and three daughters, Mrs. L. Bai. Gisoorne, Mrs. E. K. Saunders, Matawhero, and Mrs. P. O. Jones. Puha, adn one son, Mr. J. Turner, Makaraka. A service is to be held in Cochrane’s chapel, William street, at 2 p.m. tomorrow after which the funeraL will leave for the Taruheru cemetery. - -•
