LAND RATE FOR CONSERVATION
A proposal that engineers of the various catchment boards throughout New Zealand should meet to define a uniform policy in regard to land classification . for rating purposes was advanced in correspondence received by the P.B. Catchment Board, at its monthly meeting yesterday, from the executive of the New Zealand Catchment Boards’ Association.
The suggestion was cordially endorsed by the board,' the chairman, Mr. J. R. Hair, commenting that a conference of engineers was very necessary. . Land classification was one of the major administrative problems facing all conservation authorities, said Mr. Hair. It bristled with difficulties of various kinds, and those boards which had embarked upon classification individually had encountered various troubles which aparently would apply generally. There was an obvious advantage in the pooling of ideas on this subject.
