DRAINAGE FROM TAMARAU AREA
Flooding and drainage difficulties experienced by residents in the Tamarau area were the subject of a letter from the Tamarau Settlers’ Association at yesterday’s meeting of the P.B. Catchment board The association asked that an inspection be made by the board's engineer of the area served by the Kaiti Creek and other drainage outlets. The position was a serious one for the settlers, the letter stated, and various obstructions required attention. Mr. H. D. Chamberlain stated that the recent rains had demonstated the obvious impossibility of the situation of property-owners in that locality. The chairman. Mr. J. R. Hair, commented that the position was particularly bad in the area referred to, and was a long-standing ground for complaint. The matter was one which should have received attention years ago, and he suggested that the matter be referred to the engineer with power to act.
This suggestion was unanimously supported by the members of the board.
