WINNERS OF £10,000: “SEEMS LIKE A DREAM”
(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 16. “It all seems ike a dream and I am still not sure there is no mistake,” said Mrs. J. R. Price, Addington, who with her husband is the joint holder of a winning ticket in an overseas lottery drawn * this week. The first prize is £IO,OOO. Mrs. Price was reluctant to admit that she was the holder of a ticket when interviewed yesterday, but after questioning she said: “You might as well know. It’s bound to come out.” She added that she and her husband had made no plans yet and would decide what to do with the money later on.
Mr. and Mrs. Price have been buying tickets from a city tobacconist for the last 18 months and had won no prizes previously. In the previous week they were awarded a free ticket and the number differed in only one numeral from the winning number. “This time it came off, said Mrs. Price. Mr. Price, who served overseas durig the war, is a carpenter. The prize is the fourth first prize in a lottery to be won in Canterbury in the last six weeks.
