WOMAN OF 60 ADMITS BURGLARY ATTEMPT

(P.A.) DUNEDIN. June 14. Violet Emma Ogilvie, aged 00, married with eight children, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence when she appeared this morning before Mr. R. C. Abernethy. S.M., on a charge of attempting to break and enter the counting house of the New Zealand Express Company, Limited. She pleaded guilty. Glass was heard falling in the street by a constable on duty who saw the accused standing in a doorway with a claw hammer and shopping bag. In the bag she had a small torch, pocket knil'e. pair of gloves and nail file. She was dressed in her night attire and was wearing an overcoat. Interviewed at the police station, the accused gave as the only reason for her action that she had been unable to sleep. Bail was refused.
