“BLUE BABY” CLINIC IN AUCKLAND
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 15. A special cardiac clinic is to be set up at the Green Lane Hospital for “blue baby” operations. In a circular to hospital boards the Director-General of Health, Dr. T. R. Ritchie, states that Mr. Douglas Robb is expected to return shortly from the United States where he has been making himself acquainted with the technique and other matters connected with the “blue baby” operation. "It is the desire of the Government that on his return the Green Lane Hospi;al should become a centre where the operation will be undertaken on patients from any part of the Dominion,” he said. Dr. Ritchie states that the Auckland Hospital Board has approved in principle °f the establishment of a cardiac clinic at the hospital, and it is hoped to advise boards later of the actual sccpe of the work at the clinic. He asks boards to make the scheme known to patients in their districts, and to take steps to enable them to ham the benefits of the operation.
