PAMIR MEETS FRESH WINDS IN S. ATLANTIC

(P A.) WELLINGTON, June 15. The barque Pamir, bound for Auckland, is now in the South Atlantic approximately 1080 miles west of St. Helena, according to a radio message received by the Union Steam Ship Company.

The Pamir was getting the benefit of the fresh south-east trade winds and had made a day's run of 183 miles. She had covered 4415 miles since leaving Antwerp. Everyone aboard was well.

Her position last week was slightly north of the Equator, so in the intervening seven days she has crossed the Line and sailed 837 miles southwards. She is expected to reach Auckland about August 8.
