58,000 ACRES TAKEN OVER BY CROWN

(S.R.) HASTINGS, June 15 Fifty-eight thousand acres in the Waikari riding which formerly had been privately farmed have gone out of production, according to Mr. A. Bullick, who reported to a meeting of the Hawke's Bay County Council. Mr. Bullick said that between onequarter and one-third was being farmed or developed by the Crown and, consequently, was not paying county rates. “This is a most serious state of affairs, both for the riding and the county," declared the chairman, Mr. R.
