Fate took a kindly interest in Mr. ] John Milton Passey, of No. 4 Line, Kai- < ranga, in the Manawalu, in the small hours of a recent morning. Driving home at 3.30 a.m., Mr. Passey momentarily dozed at the wheel of his truck, and when he woke up some time later he was lying in a paddock beside the road. His truck? The vehicle had collided with a power pole and the front has practically disintegrated. The cab was rent asunder and the spokes of the driving wheel were buck ed right back. The amazing thing is that Mr. Passey had escaped without so much as a scratch.
