TITLE TO TOKOMARU PLAY OF TE PUIA CLUB (Herald Correspondent.) Although wet weather interferred with play, the East Coast golf-cham-pionships, played at Te Puia during the King’s Birthday week-end drew a large number of players and a good gallery each day. In the final of the championship W. Sparks, Tokomaru Bay, defeated N. Barry of Gisborne at the eighteenth hole, one up. All events were finished on schedule with the following results: Tokomaru Bay Cup, A. S. Short d. J. R. Elliott, 2 and 1; Flight, N. Greer, runner-up, J. W. Smith; best gross score in qualifying round, J. W. Morgan, 75; best net score, qualifying round, F. R. Jefferd, 77-16-61; Stableford bogey, V. Greer; bogey match, W. Sparks; four-ball bogey, G. Hassell, E. Rouse, J. Morgan, H. Gardner. Last week-end Te Puia club played a Stableford bogey and some good cards were returned J. W. Smith, playing on a handicap of 14 scored 37 points and other good cards were handed in by J. W. Morgan, handicap 9, 36 points; H. D. Gardner, 12, 32; L. Mathieson, 18, 30; Mrs. N. Oates, 20, 28 points. Handicaps Reduced As a result of their improving golf the handicaps of J. W. Smith and J Morgan have been reduced to 10 and 8 respectively. A ladies’ medal match was won oy Mrs. E. Rouse. It is hoped that members unable to play will communicate with their opponents. Draw for the four-ball bogey match to be played next week-end is as follows: J. Sutherland and Mrs. J. W. Smith v. J. W. Smith and W. Sparks; H. B. Jefferd and B. Simpson v. W. B. Jefferd and L. Mathieson; C. T. Jefferd and J. Morgan v. J. B. Jefferd and Mrs. N. Oates; F. R Jefferd and R. Jackson v. G. Cotterill and H. D. Gardner; D. A. Kirkman and J. Shorland v. G. Hassell and F. Maxwell; P. McCailum and D. Beale v. J. A. Smith and N. Vickers; J. R. Elliott and G. R. Eivers v. N. Williams and M. O'Sullivan; T. Hickey and D. C. Jones v. J. G. Busby and J. Colbert; W. S. Thompson and F. E. Porter v. E Rouse and J. Barton; A. Corlett and J. Smyth, a bye. The draw for the ladies’ medal round is: Mrs. P. Burton v Mrs. H. D. Gardner; Mrs. E McMillan v. Mrs. E. Rouse; Mrs. G. Hassell v. Mrs. N. Vickers; Mrs. J. A. Smith v. Mrs. H. McDowell.
