PRISONERS SURRENDER AT PISTOL POINT
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. June 14. Five prisoners who escaped from, the Waikune prison camp early on Friday morning and a sixth prisoner who escaped from the camp at Hautu on Thursday night have all been captured. Three of the Waikune escapees were caught on Saturday night in Taumnrunui. Two otners gave themselves lip at Manunui and the sixth was recaptured at Tokaanu-
Detective-Sergeant Cromwell and Constable Voullaire after searching up country returned to Taumarunui when they saw three of the prisoners leaving a tearooms onnosite the railway station Detective-Sergeant Cromwell drew his revolver and challenged the men. They surrendered quietly and were escorted to the police station. They were Leonard Lloyd Ward Dean. Ivan Henry Henwood and Dawson Gus King. The two other men who escaped from Waikune were taken at Manunui by Constable McKenzie. They gave themselves up. They were Leonard Albert Wells and Reuben Te Whnitai Repia. They had had nothing to cat since their escape.
