N.S.W. LAWYERS TO PAY LEVY FOR FRAUD
SYDNEY, May 17. Fifteen hundred members of the New South Wales legal profession will probably pay a special levy to meet the defalcations by the Sydney solicitor, Harold Joseph Price. . Price was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment on 29 counts of fraud involving more than £34,000. Individual clients may claim up to £2OOO each from the Solicitors’ Fidelity Guarantee Fund of the Incorporated Law Institute. The total claim on any solicitor or firm of solicitors is limited to £IO,OOO. - The fund is financed by all solicitors in practice. Claims in the last four years have exceeded £20,000.
