FLAMETHROWERS USED TO FIGHT POTATO BEETLE

(10 a.m.) BRUSSELS, June 12. Six British Army flame-throwers have reached Belgium to fight the Colorado beetle invasion which is threatening to wipe out the North Belgian potato crop. Belgian servicemen joined thousands of civilian volunteers in fighting the beetle during the week-end. Planes sprayed crops and children collected 7001 b of beetles since the insects first attacked the crops on June 10.
