FIVE TRIES TO ONE

MARIST SENIORS WIN

KEEN PATUTAHI SIDE

Leading three-nil at half-time, Marist seniors added four tries in the second half to defeat a Pat-utahi side. 15—3, in a non-competition game on Barry Park.

The visiting forwards were impressive in the fast exchanges which marked a bright opening spell. They made many attacks which tested the Marist defence and consistently harried the home backs when tire latter tried to take the offensive. In the second spell the Marist rearguard exploited speed and improving combination in successful thrusts, but the Patutahi chain also functioned in likely movements one of which resulted in a try.

G. Nelson was prominent in the Marist backs and scored two tries, others being registered by the centre. B. Donovan, the half, R. Kearney and the forward, R. Rigney. Patutahi’s try was scored by the five-eighth, B. Hawea. Mr. P. Habib was the referee.
