BASKETBALL CONTEST

P.B. REFEREES MEET Appreciation of the services given by those who co-operated in the control of games under the difficult Weather conditions prevailing for the King's Birthday holiday tournament in Gisborne was expressed at the monthly meeting of the P.B. Basketball Referee's Association. Attendance at the meeting numbered 16. The president, Mr. H. McLeod, occupied the chair. Seven entries, including two from Ruatoria, were received for the local theoretical examination and the names of two referees who had qualified in the local test were forwarded to the Dominion association.

Points of interpretation were clarified in a discussion on rules and reference was made to the increasing interest being shown by young players in the duties of referees. This, it was indicated, had been stimulated by the donation by Mrs. L. F. Sceats of a trophy for award to the team producing the most qualified referees.
