BEER PRICE CUT A SURPRISE TO TRADE
;(P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 11. The Price Tribunal’s order reducing the price of beer came as a complete surprise, said Mr. F. H. Drewittt, president of the New Zealand Licensed Victuallers’ Association
No prior notice or indication of the change in price had been given, he said. There had been no consultations whatsoever and his executive committee was meeting today to consider the whole situation.
It was originally the Price Tribunal’s Intention to hold a public inquiry into the price of beer, but this would now not take place, said an official of tne tribunal. He said the price order was preceded bv long investigations on the part of officers of the price control division of the Department of Industries and Commerce.
