MYSTERY PLANE KILLS 14 KOREAN FISHERMEN
(10.30 a.m.) SEOUL. June 11. Fourteen persons are believed to have been killed when an aeroplane bombed and sank 11 fishing boats at Ko Island off the east coast of Korea on Tuesday.
The Korean Dress news service said an American aircraft bopibed the fishing boats, but some newspapers said the plane was Russian. Investigations are proceeding in an attempt to establish the identity of the aircraft.
The American Army authorities in Korea said a preliminary investigation revealed that there were no American aircraft over Ko Island in daytime on Tuesday. Korean newspapers reported that American aircraft had been using the area for target practice.
