“ALL QUIET ON PALESTINE FRONTS

Random shooting continued in Jerusalem six minutes after the cease-fire deadline, 6 a.m., and then quiet descended on the Jewish and Arab battle lines, reports- the Associated Press correspondent in Jerusalem. A Jewish mortar barrage 70 minutes before the official cease-fire damaged a Christian church and an Arab hospital in the old city, killed a nursing orderly and wounded two Armenians worshipping at mass. . The Israeli Army fought at Latrun to the last to gain every inch possible. Arab sources said the Jews at Latrun left 100 dead on the battlefield. Jewish prisoners include more than a dozen women. Arab Killed After Deadline Reuters correspondent at Amman says that Jewish fire killed an Arab legionaire near the Damascus gate in Jerusalem one hour after, the ceaoefire was effective. The Arab climbed out of a trench and was hit by a burst of machine-gun fire. The Arabs are making a report to Count Bernadotte as a violation of the cease-fire agreement Reports from all sources indicated that the cease-fire had been observed all over Palestine. The orders issued in the Arab capitals had an immediate effect. A Syrian communique issued in Damascus said that the Syrian army yesterday captured Meshmar Hayarden, 10 miles north of the Sea of Galilee with Jewish casualties number, ing 1000 dead, 200 wounded and more than 100 prisoners. Jews Given Warning The Egyptian radio broadcast the cease-fire order operative at 6 a.m. G.M.T. to Egyptian troops in Palestine a few minutes before the deadline. A message from Tel Aviv reports that Mr. David Ben-Gurion warned Jewish civilians and troops against any violation of the truce. “Anyone who attempts to break the discipline of Israel at this hour will be considered an enemy. Our fighting forces hold not only the area allotted to the Jews by the United Nations but our armies have conquered areas outside these boundaries.”
The Associated Press Correspondent at Tel Aviv says that the Jewish Air Force carried out a 15-minute bombing raid on Damascus in the final hours before the truce.
. Military activity flared up tonight in northern and central Palestine- Both sides are apparently trying to win good local positions before the truce. The Palestine casualties in the past 26 days are estimated at between 5000 and 10,000, according to the British United Press correspondent in Amman. The Jewish economy is believed to have been wrecked completely. The Israeli snokesman disclosed in Tel Aviv today that the Jews held 1200 Arab prisoners. About 635 Jews were prisoners in Transjordan. The Red Cross believes there are more Jewish prisoners.
